HP piles are rammed piles where the pile is made of rolled steel with flanges and struts of the same thickness. HP piles can be rammed with heavy ramming equipment to great depths with limited mass displacement. The normal jointing method is welding, which will normally determine the timing of the piling work.
This type of pile is best suited when there:
- are large loads
- is ramming through infill and loose masses of coarse stones
- are stability problems (mass displacement must be avoided)
